What Does The Course Cover?

The Diploma will develop knowledge and skills in areas such as: preparing resources for and the installation of sheeting and cladding materials and rainwater goods on roofs and walls in the workplace; conforming to general health, safety and welfare; conforming to productive working practices; and moving, handling and storing resources.

Candidates can specialise in:

refurbishing or repairing sheeting and cladding, installing solar collectors, preparing and operating plant or slinging and hand signalling the movement of loads
preparing resources for the installation of sheeting and cladding materials on roofs and walls in the workplace
installing sheeting and cladding systems on roofs and walls in the workplace
installing sheeting and cladding rainwater goods on roofs and walls in the workplace
conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace
conforming to productive working practices in the workplace
moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace
refurbishing sheeting and cladding on roofs or walls or rainscreen systems in the workplace
repairing sheeting and cladding systems on roofs and walls, including rainscreen, in the workplace
installing solar collectors to roofs in the workplace
preparing and operating ergonomic manipulating machines to lift and transfer loads in the workplace
slinging and hand signalling the movement of suspended loads in the workplace

Assessment

This qualification is competence-based meaning that candidates must demonstrate the level of competence described in the units.

Assessment is the process of measuring a candidate’s skill, knowledge and understanding against the standards set in the qualification. The qualifications will be assessed in a work environment and in accordance with the Construction Skills’ Consolidated Assessment Strategy for Construction and the Built Environment, as well as being assessed by an appropriately experienced and qualified assessor.

Each candidate is required to produce a portfolio of evidence which demonstrates their achievement of all of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for each unit. Evidence can include:
