What Does The Course Cover?

The Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Demolition qualification provides a nationally recognised qualification for those working in this specialised area of construction. The course will allow candidates to develop the technical skills, knowledge and understanding related to the specified job roles in demolition and plant operation.

Candidates will complete the following mandatory modules:

Conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace
Conforming to productive working practices in the workplace
Moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace
Removing and segregating components and materials in demolition and/or refurbishment in the workplace

There are 2 specialised pathways:

Pathway 1 – Demolition and Refurbishment Operative
Pathway 2 – Plant Operative

Depending on how the candidate chooses to specialise, they will be expected to successfully complete a number of the following optional modules:

Dismantling and/or demolishing masonry and/or concrete structures in the workplace
Dismantling and/or demolishing roofs and/or cladding in the workplace
Dismantling and/or demolishing timber structures in the workplace
Dismantling and/or demolishing metal structures in the workplace
Operating plant or machinery to dismantle and/or demolish structures up to 15 metres in the workplace
Operating remote and/or pedestrian controlled plant or machinery to dismantle and/or demolish structures in the workplace
Operating demolition skid steer to demolish structures in the workplace
Operating demolition rigged plant for materials processing in the workplace
Develop technical skills and knowledge and understanding related to the specified job roles in demolition and plant operation

The Level 2 NVQ Diploma Demolition is aimed at individuals that want to develop the technical skills, knowledge and understanding related to job roles in demolition and plant operation.

How Can This Course Help Progress My Career?

Candidates that successfully complete the demolition pathway can progress to a job role as a demolition operative and candidates who complete the plant pathway can progress to a job role as a plant operator.

Our assessors will carry out an initial assessment of each candidate’s skills and knowledge to identify any gaps and help plan the assessment.

How is the Level 2 NVQ Diploma Demolition assessed?

The Level 2 NVQ Diploma Demolition is competence-based meaning that candidates must demonstrate the level of competence described in the units.

Assessment is the process of measuring a candidate’s skill, knowledge and understanding against the standards set in the qualification. The qualifications will be assessed in a work environment and in accordance with the Construction Skills’ Consolidated Assessment Strategy for Construction and the Built Environment, as well as being assessed by an appropriately experienced and qualified assessor.

Each candidate is required to produce a portfolio of evidence which demonstrates their achievement of all of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for each unit. Evidence can include:

Observation report by assessor
Assignments/projects/reports
Professional discussion
Witness testimony
Candidate product
Worksheets
Record of oral and written questioning
Recognition of Prior Learning
