What Does The Course Cover?

The Level 7 NVQ Diploma in Construction Senior Management is aimed at senior managers in the construction industry working in a wide range of job roles.

All candidates will complete the following mandatory modules:

  • Manage teams in construction
  • Lead and participate in meetings in construction management
  • Provide ethical advice, judgement and service in construction management
  • Develop self and others in construction management

Beyond the mandatory modules, the course content will vary depending on which modules the candidate chooses. The available optional modules may include:

  • Establish project procurement arrangements in construction management
  • Manage procurement processes in construction management
  • Prepare and submit estimates, bids and tenders in construction management

The Level 7 NVQ Diploma in Construction Senior Management is designed for candidates in the construction sector who:

  • oversee projects from inception to handover
  • determine project requirements and staff appropriately
  • evaluate and present technical information
  • provide advice on technical construction issues
  • evaluate project information to determine project risks and opportunities
  • undertake personal development and manage the development of others
  • identify quality standards and pass them on to the project team
  • analyse the organisation’s strategic objectives, plans and forecasted future projects to plan workforce requirements

Candidates will be working in a director or senior management capacity. This includes roles such as senior project managers, contracts and production managers, commercial managers, operations directors of smaller construction companies, property and facilities managers and specialist construction managers.

In order to meet the assessment criteria candidates should be working in a director or senior management capacity. This would include roles such as senior project managers, contracts and production managers, commercial managers, operations directors of smaller construction companies, property and facilities managers and specialist construction managers.

How is the Level 7 NVQ Diploma Construction Senior Management assessed?

This qualification is competence-based meaning that candidates must demonstrate the level of competence described in the units.

Assessment is the process of measuring a candidate’s skill, knowledge and understanding against the standards set in the qualification. The qualification must be assessed in line with the Construction Sector Qualifications Strategy and must be internally assessed by an appropriately experienced and qualified assessor.

Each candidate is required to produce a portfolio of evidence which demonstrates their achievement of all of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for each unit. Evidence can include:
